Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Crittenden County is a program of Counseling Services of Eastern Arkansas (CSEA). The mission of CASA of Crittenden County is to provide abused, neglected and dependent children a voice in the court process and advocate for their best interests through the use of trained volunteers. CASA of Crittenden County is housed at CSEA’s West Memphis clinic. CASA of Crittenden County receives grants from the Arkansas State CASA Association, National CASA Association and the State of Arkansas-Office of Intergovernmental Services’ Victim Justice and Assistance Program in addition to donations and local support to employ a Program Director, Program Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator. CASA staff members recruit, train and supervise volunteer advocates who represent the best interest of abused or neglected children for whom a placement is being determined by the juvenile court. A CASA volunteer acts as a fact finder of the child's best interest, providing a judge with valuable information on the child to help the court make a sound decision about the child's future.
